Getting Started In Beekeeping

You can become a successful beekeeper, especially if you start with only a few colonies. Bees have many thousand years’ experience teaching new beekeepers, and they have gotten quite good at training people.

The Single Best Piece of Beginner Advice

The single best piece of beginner advice we can give you is to join a local beekeepers association. These people will already have experience, and will know the local conditions. Most beekeepers associations have beginner courses every year (click here to see ours!), which are either free or very reasonable in cost.

Click here for a list of local beekeeping associations in the United States. If you don't find a local association here, then call your local State Apiary Inspector.
